Gift Ideas for Writers and Readers

With the holidays upon us and 2022 coming to a close already (LITERALLY HOW??), I thought I’d throw together a quick gift guide for writers and readers. These are things that range in price but that I’ve seen others love, so maybe the writer/reader in your life will love them too.

Book Holder

Okay, I’ll be honest when I say I want this SO BADLY!! Especially for hardcover books because when you’re lying down, you literally get hand cramps trying to keep it open. And I think these ones look so pretty!

These sword earrings are especially cool for the fantasy lovers in your life. They’re badass and perfect as a statement piece of jewelry. Also, I’ve noticed that people who wear them in content posted on social media tend to get lots of questions about them, which helps boost engagement!

Book Annotation Kit

One of my favorite trends to take off through #BookTok is the annotating of books! Obviously, people have been doing this for years, but it’s really fun to see the aesthetic turn it’s taken. This kit has some super cute things for a reader to get started! I could also see this being really handy for writers, especially those who like to print out their books to edit them.

Colorful Keyboard

This is something that’s literally on my list! I really want a cute new keyboard because I’m living in the delusion that it might help me write my book. But even if it doesn’t, it sure would look pretty sitting on my desk. I love blues and teals, so this option is my favorite, but another idea is to get one with Bluetooth capabilities, so your writer can bring it with them to cafes and sync it with their phone.

Freewrite

This option is definitely more writer-geared, as it’s a distraction-free device that lets you type without having access to emails and social media. I especially like this design because you can take it with you anywhere, and it reminds me of a Nintendo DS, so points for nostalgia. While a bit of a pricier option, the distracted writer in your life will thank you!

Those are my top five ideas! And yes, writing this blog made me realize that I also want all of these for myself. Other easy ideas are mugs and apparel with bookish content (bonus points if it’s their favorite book), gift cards to Bookshop and Indiebound, which are sites that support local bookstores, and a tried and true one is bookmarks. Happy gifting!
